Fresh from a killer show at the Half Moon in Putney in March, James and Norman alongside drummer, Mark Kemlo, will be fully unleashed to tour across the UK and beyond in 2025.
James Oliver. guitar and vocals James Oliver is one of the UK’s busiest acts playing over 300 gigs a year all over the UK, Europe, and the USA! He has performed over 3000 gigs and shared the stage with many acts including Albert Lee, Bill Kirchen, Deke Leonard, Greg Koch, Walter Trout, Steve Gibbons, Billy Bremner, Geraint Watkins, and many others. In 2020 James won the UK Blues Awards Emerging Artist of the Year and has since been nominated 3 additional times. Norman Watt Roy – bass Norman kept busy with session work throughout the ’70s, and appeared on such albums as Rachel Sweet’s Fool Around and Nick Lowe’s Jesus of Cool, and Jona Lewie’s number one single “You’ll Always Find Me in the Kitchen at Parties.” He and his brother, along with Turnbull, later joined up with Mick Gallagher (guitar) and Charlie Charles (drums), working under the name Loving Awareness — that outfit, in turn, was engaged for a session with Chaz Jankel and Ian Dury which led to their work on Dury’s New Boots and Panties!! LP, and eventually became the Blockheads, Dury’s band.
They hit the top of the charts in 1979 with “Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick.” Norman Watt-Roy was now one of the most visible bassists working in England. His time with the Blockheads allowed him to cross paths with Dr. Feelgood’s Wilko Johnson, which led to his joining Johnson’s own group in the mid-’80s. In between, he played with the Selecter on Celebrate the Bullet and the Clash on Sandinista!, with Wreckless Eric’s Captains of Industry, and he played the original bass part on Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s single “Relax.” During the 21st century, he has kept busy working with Nick Cave, in addition to his continued performances with Johnson.

THE REVOLUTIONAIRES
APRIL 18th £16.50
Without doubt one of the very best bands ever to have appeared on the Shire Hall stage and they are in some illustrious company believe me…
Established within the ‘hotbed’ of the North East music scene in the UK, they power out jumpin’ hot rhythm & blues in their own indomitable hard hitting style.
Primarily, they are influenced by 1940’s and 1950’s R&B. In particular, Louis Jordan, Big Joe Turner, Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Roy Brown but have adopted a harder and more aggressive approach, synonymous with modern blues artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duke Robillard, Jools Holland and Mike Henderson which helps create their own high energy sound.
Over the last decade, The Revolutionaires have established themselves on the UK and European Rockin’ circuit, as well as the Blues scene.
They have toured extensively both in the UK and abroad, performing at festivals in Ireland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Malta and Dubai.
Highlights include performing at festivals with artistes such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Sting, Tom Jones, Hugh Laurie, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Walter Trout, Eric Bibb, Albert Lee, Snake Davis and Dave Edmunds.
Now also touring with their Big Band project which consists of extra horns and pianist, The Revs are hitting the Festival circuit with this power house line up and big sound.
They have recorded five CDs to date containing a collection of Hot Rockin’ R&B tracks. Each CD captures the ‘rawness’ and sheer energy of the band, who like to give their performances a ‘hard-edged’ vibe!
If you ‘get yourself down’ to a Revs gig, in the words of the Ronnie Molleen tune ….” We’ll be rockin’ up a storm tonight! “

TV SMITH
& Joe Solo
October 3rd £16.50
TV Smith was founder member, singer and songwriter for the Adverts, who formed in late 1976 and were one of the leading bands in the first wave of British punk rock. In early 1977 they performed regularly at the newly-opened Roxy Club in London, and gained cult success with the Stiff Records single “One Chord Wonders.” Their next release, “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes” became a top twenty hit record, leading to radio and TV appearances and extensive media interest. A further single, “No Time To Be 21,” also entered the charts, and the band spent the rest of the year playing live, including major tours with The Damned and Iggy Pop. The album that followed in early 1978, “Crossing the Red Sea with the Adverts,” is still considered a genuine classic of the era and is often cited as one of the twenty best punk albums ever released. The Adverts released one more album, “Cast Of Thousands,” before they split in 1979. Slammed by the critics at the time, the album was later re-released to universal acclaim, and described by Mojo magazine as “the long lost punk album that rivals The Clash’s ‘London Calling’.” After The Adverts broke up, TV went on to form TV Smith’s Explorers, who gained a UK chart hit in 1980 with the single “Tomahawk Cruise,” then at the end of the ’80’s formed Cheap, who payed many gigs in the UK and Europe, and released one album “RIP – Everything Must Go.” In the early ’90’s TV turned his hand to solo gigs at the suggestion of punk poet Attila The Stockbroker and released the acoustic-inspired album “March Of The Giants”on the Cooking Vinyl label. Since then he has established himself as the leading solo performer of the punk rock scene and has released many albums. He has also been involved in a number of collaborations with other bands, most notably with German superstars Die Toten Hosen, who performed as TV’s backing band on the album “Useless.” TV most recent album is entitled “Handwriting,” and was released in April 2024 on the Easy Action label. Recorded in collaboration with renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Diver, the pair created a record with a thrilling totally new musical landscape using no conventional rock instruments. Many critics called it the best album of his career, and following its success TV is already working on new songs and planning a new collaboration with Gerry for future release. Fiercely independent and proudly embodying the original spirit of punk rock, TV performs as an acoustic solo artist all over the world, as well as playing occasional gigs with backup bands. Over the past few years he has supported Stiff Little Fingers, the Damned and Ruts DC on major tours in the UK, and played headline tours throughout the UK, Europe, the U.S.A and Japan. In 2025 he set off on a world tour which included the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and North America, and he already has many gigs planned for 2026, including a tour of Australia. A full-length BBC 4 documentary on TV Smith titled “We Who Wait: TV Smith & The Adverts” is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWZqYCsT2uk Videos from the album “Handwriting:” “Who’s Got The Time” https://youtu.be/vzRsrKlL5mM “Handwriting” https://youtu.be/KnfJVHYsjIM Latest news, archives, and a webshop can be found at: https://tvsmith.co.uk/ https://www.facebook.com/onechordwonder https://www.facebook.com/TVSmith77 “If you only buy one album this year, let it be ‘Handwriting’” Dave Thompson, Goldmine Joe Solo is an award-winning musician, writer, poet, activist, broadcaster and washing machine engineer from Scarborough. His musical odyssey began in 1987 fronting a bash-em-out band at school, and has seen him play nine countries either as lynchpin of pop-punk upstarts Lithium Joe or hammering out his unique brand of Folk, Punk and Blues in his own right.

PHIL BEER
OCTOBER 17th £16.50

Phil Beer is an award-winning, multi-instrumental musician, singer, and composer, best known as a founder of the folk duo Show of Hands. He is a highly accomplished fiddler and guitarist who also plays mandocello, mandolin, and other instruments. His career includes extensive solo work, tours with bands like The Albion Band and Mike Oldfield, and collaborations with numerous artists, including The Rolling Stones. ‘Phil is one of the most popular ambassadors for acoustic roots music. A dazzling instrumentalist, he is perhaps best known as a top flight fiddler’ The Truth: Whilst that may be the perception, I would actually take issue with that statement. I didn’t write it. I’m very good at what I do. The trick is to design what you do in order to accommodate your limitations. That’s why I don’t teach. I leave that to the pros. I’m too busy gigging or making albums anyway. Please stop asking me! The perpetual problem of being a Z list muso/celebrity is how to describe yourself. The most onerous task of all is trying to big yourself up and exaggerate past exploits. I’ve now been ‘on the road’ for 45 years. I’m amazed I’m still standing. I’ve made hundreds of albums with bands/singers/ musicians and done gigs with them. Some are world famous, some you’ve never heard of. The dumbest and most pathetic thing in existence is to see a musicians C. V. that lists the people that they may just have been with on the same bill on the same day at some festival as people that they’ve ‘worked with’. Whilst I ache in the places I used to play (L Cohen!), I’m still up for what is about to happen, not what has been and gone. Hopefully, myself and my compatriots have more to contribute yet before we shuffle off. This is why my catchphrase is: Phil Beer. Plays guitar and fiddle, sings a bit. Sums it up.
