STEPTOE AND SON

Adapted by John Hewer

Albert and Harold; father and son. One proclaims he’s “a poor old man” while the other protests that actually he’s “a dirty old man!” In actual fact, both are telling the truth. These two warring rag-and-bone-men, in their Shepherd’s Bush scrapyard home, became household favourites for entire generations throughout the 60s and 70s and still they continue to entertain audiences today. Now it’s time to relive some of their finest misadventures through this brand new production. Marking fifty-five years since the show’s first ever broadcast, Hambledon Productions (Hancock’s Half Hour – The Lost Episodes, Educating Rita, Just Like That! The Tommy Cooper Show) breathe life back into the Steptoe household with this faithful, fresh and hilarious adaptation of original episodes from the long-running smash hit BBC sitcom.Features the classic episodes: Divided We Stand, Men of Letters and Come Dancing and excerpts from The Bath and Steptoe and Son – and Son!

MACMILLAN RUN VI

SUNDAY MAY 1st 2016

SIXTH ANNUAL RIDE OUT
Meet 10 for 10.30 at THE NEW COOP CAR PARK, HOWDEN, DN14 7SU
HOWDEN TO NEWTON UPON RAWCLIFFE YO18 8QA
Via SEAWAYS at Fridaythorpe. Approx 11.30.
We have raised just over £7000 over the previous five runs for MacMillan Cancer support in memory of Simon Duffy, the landlord at the White Swan in Newton Upon Rawcliffe near Pickering, who died just before Christmas 2010. The support he and his family received from MacMillan was inestimable as it is to many, many individuals and families on a day to day basis.
Last year with the kind permission of his family, we also added Goff Sherburn to the memoriam for the ride who all benefited from the wonderful care MacMillan provide.P1050164
We aim to add at least 1k to that total this year and would cordially invite anyone with on two or three wheels (with an engine) to come along on the day and bung £5 in the pot or, better still, download some sponsor forms and gather some lolly to whomsoever fancies sponsoring you for the day. If you are reading this and don’t have a bike please tell anyone you know who does about what we are up to, it would be much appreciated.
Its a lovely part of the world we are heading to, why not see us off from Howden and watch us roll up at Newton?
